Singed in bottom right corner; depicting what appears to be a man making jewelry; measures approximately 24-3/4" x 20-3/4" with frame and has a sight image of approximately 9-1/2" x 7-1/2". Andy Van (Andrew) Tsinajinnie (1916 - 2000) was born in Rough Rock, Arizona. Andy Tsinajinnie was an Indian artist and illustrator who maintained a studio in Scottsdale, Arizona. He was a member of the Navajo Salt River Bend Indian tribe, and the translation of his last name, which has been spelled in several ways, is ''Little Grey.'' He studied art at the Fort Apache School in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and graduated in 1936. He painted large murals for the WPA in Arizona and New Mexico including ones for Indian Schools. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force in the South Pacific, and after that was a full-time artist in Scottsdale. He did illustration for the Navajo Agency at Window Rock, for ''Arizona Highways'' and also for other magazines and books.
