C. David Breeden (American, 1938 - 2006) stone sculpture; signed to right side "Breeden 98 copyright 5924"; measures approximately 7-1/2" tall and 6" wide to base. C. David Breeden founded Ball's Ford Furniture Co. in his hometown of Manassas, Virginia specifically to sell his hand crafted antique reproduction furniture, and as a means to look for and experiment with new materials to use to create art and to develop as an artist. His extensive travels through Africa and Brazil heavily influenced his art as well. He established an art studio at Biscuit Run, in Albemarle County, Virginia, at which he produced over 10,000 works of art. His media ranged from native Virginia soapstone, stained glass, metal, and concrete to clay, fabric, and paint. His art is still currently on display at Biscuit Run, in outdoor spaces in Charlottesville, Roanoke, Miami, Pittsburg, Jamaica, Antigua, and the Bahamas, as well as in private collections around the world.
