French, 19th century. Two matching Louis XVI style armchairs with carved gilt wood frames with reed and ribbon detail. Armchairs and seat cushions upholsered in cream colored damask fabric with Neoclassical urn and floral winged gryphon motif. Chairs raised on four fluted tapered legs. Height 44 inches, width (across arms) 27.25 inches, depth 23.5 inches. Seat to floor (including cushion) 19 inches. According to the consignor, purchased from Tom Haynes Antiques in Atlanta, Georgia in May of 1991. Chairs upholstered by Clarence House in the early 1990s. Provenance: From the Estate of Mr. Thomas V. and Mrs. Marie B. Patton, Atlanta, Georgia.
