Circle of Jean-Baptiste Monnoyer the Elder (French 1636-1699), Still Life with Urn, Snake and Fruit. Oil on canvas painting depicting a large urn with a snake at left slithering down a cascading garland of fruit including apples, grapes, and plums. Large footed urn rests on a stone cornice in an outdoor garden setting marked with architectural details, plants and flowers. Apparently unsigned. Contained in a gilt wood frame with an armorial shield at top flanked by scrolled foliates. Framed 57 inches x 54.5 inches. Unframed 43 inches x 46 inches. Provenance: From the Estate of Mr. Thomas V. and Mrs. Marie B. Patton, Atlanta, Georgia.
