Antique brass lunch box (tiffin carrier) with five compartments; features side bolts that lock compartments into place as well as a handle to lid; measures approximately 9" tall and 6-1/2" in diameter; in Very Good condition. Stacking lunch pails are known as tiffin carriers, tiffin boxes or tiffins. Named in British India from the British tradition of afternoon tea, a sip of tea or "tiffing" was replaced by the Indian tradition of an afternoon meal or lunch.
