Pierre Troubetzkoy Oil On Canvas Portrait Pierre Troubetzkoy oil on canvas portrait of Amelie Rives Troubetzkoy, Pierre's wife, sitting on a bench sewing; probably painted in Lago Maggiore, Italy; the painting is unsigned but has descended in the family of the cousin of Amelie to whom it was given by her in the early 20th Century; measures approximately 52-3/8" x 44-1/2" with gilded wooden frame and has a sight image of approximately 46-1/2" x 38-1/2". Prince Pierre Troubetzkoy was the husband of Amelie Rives, the Rives an old Albemarle County, Virginia family of the Castle Hill Estate. He was her second husband and was a famous artist and portrait painter of the late 19th and early 20th Centuries. His brother Paul was also a well known artist of the time, specializing in sculpture. Prince Pierre Troubetzkoy was the older brother of Paul Troubetszkoy, a noted sculptor and engraver (1866-1938). Pierre Troubetzkoy's work is exhibited at the Franklin D.
