English, Late 18th century. Fine mahogany wood chest of drawers with carved acanthus leaf tip frieze decoration on cornice at top with chamfered corners above three pull out drawers above three graduated pull out drawers with brass hardware pulls. Additional carved foliate band above lower section with false drawer that serves as part of butler's desk. Butler's desk with six pull out drawers surrounding compartments above three larger pull out drawers. Interior of drawers in oak. Chest of drawers raised on scrolled and leaf decorated large ogee bracket feet with gadrooning on base. Height 71.2", width 45.25", depth 23". Provenance: Church Street Galleries, Charleston, South Carolina whereby acquired by Mrs. Dorothy Edwards, Atlanta, Georgia in 1998.
