Large oval tea tray with two scrolled foliate bracket handles, gadrooned rim surrounding engraved decoration in floral and scrolled foliate motif around dedicatory text reading "Presented to Eliha Gittord by Farmers Bank of Hudson as a testimonial of its sense of the value of his services as its President. May 1st 1855. Tray raised on four bracket feet. Marked on bottom in two places "W. ADAMS" and "NEW YORK". Height 3.25", width (across handles) 32", depth 19.6". Total weight approximately 141 troy ounces. According to the consignor, this lot was purchased from Sotheby's, New York in the late 1990s. Provenance: From the Collection of Mrs. Dorothy Edwards, Atlanta, Georgia.
