Werner Sensbach oil on panel; marked to back "Courtyard Fayerweather Hall UVA 1997 Oil on Panel Werner Sensbach" and signed to bottom right corner "W. Sensbach 1997"; measures approximately 14" x 11"; in Good condition. Through many years of painting and making prints, the towns and landscapes of the Piedmont region of Virginia have become the favorite subject matter of Werner Sensbach's work. Artistic influences come from the German Expressionists and the art teachers at the University of Virginia. With professional degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the University of Karlsruhe, Germany, Mr. Sensbach went on to develop a career in architecture, working for many years in Europe and the United States. From 1965 to 1991, he was a professor in the School of Architecture as well as the director of planning at the University of Virginia.
