GRUEBY Exceptional twenty-five tile panel decorated in cuerda seca with a landscape of rolling hills and tall trees. (The only such example we"ve seen). Restoration to three corners, minor chips to base of two. While bottom corner tiles are missing, they might have been purchased that way originally. Stamped GRUEBY FAIENCE CO. BOSTON MASS. Each tile 6", panel 54" x 17" (This spectacular panel comes from the Harris residence in Hancock, Michigan. A wealthy family, the Harris" owned the Quincy copper mine, long the deepest in the world. They had built a twenty-six room English cottage in 1910, which was modernized in the 1950s.)
