Made by Vicenzo Coronelli; titled "Corso del Reno, Parte Meridionale Dedicato all'Illustrissimo, et Eccellentissimo S. Girolamo Querini Procutore di S. Marco, Venetia 1690"; published by Atlante Veneto, Venice, Italy, 1690; measures approximately 17.9" x 23.8"; hand colored in outline with fully colored title cartouche; light foxing along center fold and margins. This beautifully drawn map depicts the southern part of the Rhine River from Northern Italy to Luxembourg and Western Germany, and covers all of Switzerland and Eastern France. Vicenzo Coronelli was a very learned Franciscan Priest, renowned mathematician and cartographer. He was appointed as the official Cartographer of the Venetian Republic in 1685 and founded the world's first map society: "L'Accademia Cosmografica degli Argonauti".
