An early 19th Century skeleton clock signed to the back of the dial by Richmond, VA watchmaker William Cowan, circa 1816, comes complete with glass dome and stand. William Cowan 1779 ? - 1831, born in Fredricksburg VA and actively worked in Richmond VA 1803 - 1821. Formed a partnership with jeweler and watch maker William McCay ( M'Cay ) from 1805 - 1807 under the name of M'Cay & Cowan. MESDA Craftsman ID #'s 7581, 23568. Base is 13" wide with 7-14/15" of depth and stands approximately 3/4" high. The clock itself stands approximately 12-1/2" in height, and 7-1/2" in width; clock was observed to be running but Bremo does not guarantee working condition.
