Mihail Chemiakin (Russian/American, b. 1943- ) "Untitled (Circus Scene)"-1978, color lithograph on wove paper. Pencil signed in lower right margin, marked in pencil lower left margin "45/300". Print depicting a figural scene with four caricatured and satirical figures standing at full length in green nondescript environment--ring leader at right, brightly colored bird flying at left. Framed 29.75" x 37.5". Sight size approximately 19.25" x 27.25". Note: Mihail Chemiakin is a renowned international artist. Exiled from his birth country of Russia in 1971 for not conforming to Socialist Realism norms he continued his practice in France and later the United States. This work of art reflects Chemiakins controversial representation of the non conformist art tradition of St. Petersburg.
