French, 19th century. "Preserving Fruit". Oil on canvas painting depicting a table topped with a white tablecloth with clusters of grapes in a handled basket at right behind a spoon next to scattered grapes, grape clusters and a few grapes opened to reveal their seeded interiors. Center with large handled copper pot next to glass jars of assorted sizes, some with corked lids. Signed lower right "A. Hudelot". According to appraisal by Vernon Abrams and consignor work assigned to a French 19th century painter Anna Hudelot. Handwritten label attached to verso of frame with "Anna Hudelot". Framed 26.5 inches x 32 inches. Unframed 17.75 inches x 23.75 inches. According to the consignor, purchased from Paris in May of 1993.
