To Ordinance Officer d'Hautpoul, who was created Baron in 1813 "Take the enclosed letters addressed to Wilkowisky to the Prince d'Eekmuhl {Louis-Nicolas Davout, Marshal of France} and to the King of Naples {Napoleon's brother-in-law Joachim-Napoleon Murat}. Then go to the outposts near General Bruyere; place outposts on the entire Kowno line as far as Prenn, and return near General Bruyere,where you will remain to acquire a complete knowledge of the area while awaiting my arrival; unless something of great importance happens- in which case you will give me a full report. Above all, inspect the area near the village of Prenn where the river curves and the place where is necessary to set up the batteries and to construct the bridge opposite Kowno." Fine condition.
