Delille, A. Nouvelle Merveille Du Professeur A. Delille. Paris, Emile Levy, ca. 1890. Half-sheet (16 ½ x 24“) color lithograph depicting the living half-body illusion as presented by Delille. Restoration at old central fold, light foxing; B+. Linen backed. A similar poster was produced for Dr. Lynn. The living half-woman was a popular magic trick and fairground and circus sideshow illusion in which a woman without legs hung from a swing and interacted with members of the audience. The lower half of her body was cleverly made invisible through a series of optical tricks.
