Houdini, Harry. Victory! Victory! Victory! Houdini Still King of Handcuffs!! London, David Allen & Sons, 1904. Half-sheet (20 ¼ x 30”) two-color broadside heralding Houdini’s famous escape from the Mirror Cuffs. Expert restoration at central folds; B. Linen backed. Houdini escaped from the Mirror Cuffs on March 17, 1904 on the stage of the London Hippodrome – just days before the broadside offered here was printed. While it was widely reported that the cuffs took an English blacksmith some five years to manufacture and that they were virtually escape-proof, in all likelihood, Houdini orchestrated the entire challenge from start to finish. Of the escape Houdini later wrote, “I must say it was one of the hardest, but at the same time one of the fairest, tests I ever had.”
