Mid Eighteenth Century Anti-British French Gaming Engraving. Paris, ca. 1780. Engraved, hand colored French depiction of the Prince of Wales sitting on a liquor cask “reviewing his new regiment of swords”, represented by a board onto which are affixed spade playing cards. A strongly anti-British image, in which the “National English Spirit is represented by Brandy and Gin.” Framed to an overall size of 16 x 14”. Marginal fault at bottom right corner, not affecting image, else good. Not examined out of frame.
