[Correspondence] Archive of James Alfredson’s correspondence. Spanning more than 40-year period, and covering many topics related to magic and magicians, including performers, publications, magic collection, the journal Magicol (of which Alfredson served as editor for 15 years), conventions, gossip, tricks, and virtually every subject related to conjurers and their craft. Many thousands of letters both typed and holographic make up the archive. In addition, an assortment of paper ephemera complementing the correspondence is included: holiday and business cards, photos, advertising material, broadsides, advertising flyers, and several publications. A group of cassette tapes (“audio letters”), primarily from Peter Warlock are also included, along with Alfredson’s extensive written notes on their contents. All of the material is neatly organized in manila folders and fills seven large cartons (or one four-drawer filing cabinet).
