$550
Two Vintage Photographs of Alice Ivers Duffield Tubbs Huckert, or “Poker Alice”. Circa 1928. Pair of photographs (7 ¾ x 5 ¾“) of Poker Alice at her home, in one photograph receiving her government pardon, in the other reading it. Excellent. “Poker Alice” (1851 – 1930), as she was widely known, began her poker playing career in Leadville, Colo. after the death of her first husband and continued playing throughout the mining towns of the old west. Accounting for inflation, she is estimated to have won over $3 million. Alice was arrested on charges of bootlegging and operating a brothel, but received a pardon from Governor William J. Bulow (South Dakota) because of her old age.
