$7,000
Set of 220 Ivory Poker Chips With Case. Set of 132 $1 (flowers) and 88 $5 chips, having belonged to Richard Canfield. The name “Canfield, 38, House” engraved on a brass star on the inner rack, though the authenticity of the star can’t be verified. The chips themselves are without question authentic. According to Dale Seymour, “Richard Canfield, owner of the casino at Saratoga Springs, New York in the 1890s, owned these ivory chips. Canfield was the Bugsy Siegel of the late 19th Century when much of the action was in the eastern United States.” (Antique Gambling Chips, Revised Edition, 1998, pg. 34).
