Card Star. Chicago, Okito (Joe Berg), ca. 1946. A handsomely lacquered wooden star, accented with decals, on the five points of which chosen cards appear at the magician's command. 19 ¾" high with a span of 12 ¾". Hallmarked "Okito Maker U.S.A." Some splitting to wood at rear not affecting working of the trick, otherwise good condition. The mechanism operating this card star is different from most other similar props, and allows the performer to activate the star by striking at its center with the pack of cards; no offstage assistant is required.
