[Will, The Witch and the Watchman] Important archive of correspondence and documents related to Maskelyne's famous magic play. Including 12 ALS from Paul Valadon's assistant Will Stone, TLS from Walter Z. Harris (owner of the original Maskelyne cabinet), line drawings of the modus operandi, TLS and ALS from various parties with knowledge of the working (or lack thereof) of the cabinet, the routine, its disparate elements, the publication of the routine, etc. (Arthur Ivey, John Braun, etc.); and scripts for both the Maskelyne and Kellar's versions of the play (one in Stone's hand). A remarkable, unique collection of information related to one of magic's most celebrated mini-dramas. Condition generally good. Should be seen. Stone's letters are particularly illuminating, as they provide little known first-person details regarding the Kellar show and Kellar's staff, particularly during the time Valadon spent with Kellar.
