Utility Chest. New York, Hornmann Magic Co., ca. 1918. The performer shows a handsome wooden box empty by passing his hand through it and then showing its interior plainly by unhinging its sides. Once reassembled, a gigantic production is made from its interior. 10 7/8 x 6 ¾ x 7 5/8, trimmed with brass hardware. One significant crack at right rear corner reglued, metal door to load chamber loose, usual wear from use. Overall good condition. Uncommon. Advertising in The Sphinx stated, "If interested, write for circulars, price, etc." The prop sold for approximately $30 in 1918.
