277: Fifteen Hecksher Theatre SAM Show Programs

[Society of American Magicians] Fifteen Hecksher Theatre SAM Show Programs. New York, 1930-1941. One program printed on silk. Most 8vo. Some damp staining, but condition generally good. With: a TLS from Dr. Jacob Daley soliciting subscriptions for the 1939 Hecksher show honoring Margules. Organized by Sam Margules, these shows became institutions in New York, as they featured some of the best and most famous magicians of the era, including Cardini, Roy Benson, Fred Keating, Gwynne, Tarbell, Jane Thurston, Al Flosso, Jarrow, Judson Cole, Frederick Eugene Powell, Dai Vernon (in one of his rare performances of his Harlequin Act) and Hardeen, among others. Included in this lot is a program for Servais LeRoy's final, tragic appearance at the Hecksher Theatre on June 6th, 1940.
