Millet Bell. Maker unknown, ca. 1900. Handsome bell of turned boxwood which conceals a spring-loaded mechanism that allows the performer to produce a quantity of previously vanished millet underneath the bell. 6 ¼" high and 2 ¼" at its widest point. One unobtrusive chip to upper bead; paint near mouth of bell crackled and worn, otherwise very good condition.
