Rising and Falling Ball. Maker unknown (likely American), ca. 1910. Lightweight aluminum ball with a hole running through its center is placed on an upright metal stand. At the magician's command, the ball rises and falls to answer questions, tell time, reveal the names of chosen cards, and more. The ball can be examined both before and after the trick is performed. Rod and base 27" high, ball 5" in diameter. Ball dented and finish worn; fair but working condition. Regardless, a scarce and desirable item. Howard Thurston featured this trick in many of his early performances.
