Kassner, Alois. Kassner Der Grosse Zauberer. Hamburg, Adolph Friedlander, 1929. European one-sheet (27 x 55") color lithographed poster depicting the German magician and his vanishing elephant, Toto, in a mélange of bright pastels. Good condition, linen backed. Toto the vanishing elephant was a feature in the Kassner show for nearly a decade, until World War II, when work for the magician became scarce. After Toto's unfortunate death, the animal's meat was used to feed starving factory workers in war-torn Germany.
