Jarrow, Emil. Important archive of Emil Jarrow ephemera. Collected by Jay Marshall, and including an informal contract and manuscript pages for a book of Emil Jarrow's magic routines (including many of his original jokes and patter lines), contact sheets of images in which Jarrow presents some of his trademark tricks, Jay Marshall's handwritten notes about Jarrow's life, photographs, theatre programs, programs for private events which include Jarrow, news clippings, a Photostat of a Dai Vernon silhouette of Jarrow signed and inscribed to Jay Marshall, and more. Over 30 items. Condition varies from fair to very good. Should be seen. Jarrow's career in vaudeville began as a strongman, but after an accident in which he fell through the stage floor, he became a magician. Jarrow developed the now-classic Bill in Lemon trick along with Max Malini. Another Jarrow feature was the barehanded vanish of a quantity of loose tobacco. He became know just as well for his humorous patter as he was for his magic and was one of the pioneering comedy magicians in that he did real tricks, not a Burlesque magic act.
