Fred Kaps' Rabbit from Cane. Maker unknown (Dutch), ca. 1955. This faux metal walking stick was used by the great Dutch conjuror Fred Kaps (Abraham Pieter Adrianus Bongers) to produce a live rabbit. Kaps entered carrying the stick and immaculately dressed. To his surprise, rabbit ears appeared from the end of the cane, wiggling back and forth. A white rabbit tail appeared at the tip of the cane. When Kaps pulled on the ears, he produced a kicking, white bunny from the end of the cane. The appearing rabbit tail is spring-loaded, while the ears are operated manually. Measuring 33" long and 1" in diameter at its wide end. Finish considerably worn and chipped from use, but in good working condition. Unique. See front cover of our printed catalog. .Kaps used this prop both in personal appearances and on television. His American TV debut was on The Ed Sullivan Show, on February 9, 1964. He followed another act debuting on American television that night ? The Beatles.
