Hartz, Joseph Michael. One page Hartz ALS on pictorial letterhead. Dated December 11th, 1879, Hartz complains about another magician playing dates ahead of him and ruining his business, stating, "…Henrique who I have no doubt is Tom Allyne the worst on the road. He will certainly injure our business." Includes original mailing envelope. Light unobtrusive staining, otherwise very good condition. Rare. Professor Hoffmann paid tribute to Hartz in Later Magic. The book contains a biography of Hartz as well as complete descriptions of many of his tricks, and, most notably, his stage-filling "Devil of a Hat" routine.
