Germain Water Jars. Likely Roterberg, ca. 1915. The audience sees five heavy and empty nickel plated jars on a skeleton stand. The magician causes each jar to magically fill to the brim with water. Set of ten large nickel-plated jars, one false bottom, and one extra bottomless jar. Each jar stands 6 ?" high. Jars show signs of use and wear, including small unobtrusive dents as well as stress cracks. Fair condition. Martinka was the first authorized manufacturer of this effect, upon Germain's retirement from the stage. Considered a reputation-making and exclusive trick, in the Martinka catalog it was listed as "price on application.
