Gorgeous vintage set, possibly Staffordshire, hand-painted with some fading, with porcelain ecru insert of four ecru with gold rim individual egg cups (one with crack, another with gold rim faded). Insert has approximate length of 7", width of 5-1/4", and height to tip of handle of 3-1/2". Each egg cup stands approximately 1-3/4" with base diameter of 1" and lip diameter of 1-1/2". Having full height of approximately 7" with length of 8-1/2", nest is approximately 2-1/2" tall with 8" length and 6-1/2" width. Hen itself is approximately 5" in height, and presents with six eggs total, having two to each side up front, with one to each side below her tail. Also exhibiting oriental eyes, with head cocked to left, pointed beak, curly comb, and stylized feathering. Inside of nest has minor chips to inner lip. Base rim is scalloped and braided, while base bottom and sides are basket-weave in design. The tail of the hen is divided (split) with scalloped edging to tail feathers, feathers within the split of the tail are stylized.
