Continental, first half 19th century. A carved wood and gesso painting frame with allover gilding, the four-piece molding with pierced shells with acanthus leaves at corners united by elongated scrolling swags to sides centered by floral medallions set over garlands of flowers in relief, the picture window bordered by a band of egg and dart punctuated by shell scrolls. Exterior approximately 37" x 32". Fits painting sized 30.25" x 25.25". Provenance: From the Estate of Henry G. Muecke Jr., Atlanta, Georgia.
