New England watercolor and wallpaper covered box, dated 1837 , probably Maine, inscribed Joseph Grant. , decorated on the top and sides with large estates, the underside of the lid with a penmanship verse, signed D. Enfield , the interior is paper covered with a fitted till, 3 3/4" h., 8 3/4" w., 4 3/4" d. For a similar example, see Nina Fletcher Little Neat and Tidy , pgs. 69-72.
