Chinese, likely 19th century. A carved and stained horizontal wood panel, possibly Polar Oak, with high relief figural scene, at left with a mother guiding a toddler as it walks, followed by a scene with two figures in a courtyard playing checkers or chess on a round table, followed by a scene with many figures and an elder set below a canopy with a young person kneeling in front of the elder presenting a scroll; followed by a long scene with riders on horseback surrounded by farm laborers set under trees, the carved panel set within a later stained pine frame. Three clusters of carved calligraphic marks to scene. Overall approximately 17.625" x 66.125". Carved panel approximately 13.5" x 61.75".
