Scandinavian, first quarter of 19th century. Carved and polychrome wood mangle (smoothing) board with elongated primitive horse motif handle (with red and white saddle) on a tapered border with hand painted floral spray above date at bottom "1818", board with red and white borders. Overall length approximately 25.5". Provenance: M. Finkel Antiques, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania whereby acquired by the Estate of Dr. Woody and Mrs. Honor Cobbs, Atlanta, Georgia in December 1958.
