Gertrude A. (Snow) Brooks (American, 1866-1947), "Landscape with Sheep in Pasture", oil on canvas. Signed lower left "G. A. Brooks". Pastoral landscape painting depicting a charming landscape with a small flock of grazing white sheep in a large field or pasture with a figure tending the fields in the background in front of a purple tone mountain, scene likely a California scenic view. Framed 19.75" x 27.5". Unframed 16" x 24". Note: Gertrude Snow settled in Alameda with her family in 1875. As a teenager, she made routine ferry trips to San Francisco where she studied at the School of Design under Virgil Williams. After her marriage, she established a studio in Alameda in her home at 1813 Alameda Avenue. This painting is a rare piece by a listed California artist.
