American, first half 20th century. A French Empire style parcel gilt bronze five light chandelier comprising a five spoked fixture at bottom with straight arms angled slightly upward and adorned with scrolls at center surrounding a gilt floral cap and fans at ends each surmounted by a gilt bronze cylindrical candle cup decorated with grape leaves in relief, the central shaft of doric columnar form issuing from a leaf tip cup over beaded band and capped with a simple capital further issuing an elaborate reticulated triangular form with poppy flowers, waves, and leaves suspended from a six link gilt chain with rectangular and ring form links descending from a splayed leaf tip canopy. Length from top of canopy approximately 27.5", width across arms approximately 9.25".
