Continental School (likely French or Russian), 19th century. A collection of two miniature portraits each painted on bone, one depicting a courtly beauty with powdered hair atop her head adorned with pink roses and purple flowers, wearing a corseted yellow gown with white ruffles and floral decoration; the other depicting a young brunette lady with porcelain complexion draped in rich red, blue, and golden velvet with her hand clutching her breast as she looks left of the viewer. Each portrait to a metal frame with carved bone border, reticulated scroll patterning, and applied pearls, frame verso with further glass window revealing blue or burgundy velvet with applied metal monogram at center "AC" or "CA". Each framed approximately 5.25" x 4.625". Each sight size approximately 2.125" x 2.5".
