Rochester Stamping Works (American (New York), circa 1888-1900. A scarce copper and steel lidded bin, probably a coal bin, having a steel hinged lid and rim over a copper body. The interior lid stamped "ROCHESTER STAMPING WORKS, ROCHESTER, NY'. Approximate height 14.75", width 13.75", depth 13". Note: Rochester Stamping Works was founded in 1888 for the purpose of manufacturing strictly first-class sheet metal goods. Typical items made were tea kettles, wash-boilers, tea and coffee pots, lard and oyster pails and metal packages for tobacco. Rochester Stamping Works became Rochester Stamping Co. in 1900.
