Lovis Corinth (French, 1858-1925). "Tell und Sein Sohn vor Dem Hut (Tell and His Son in Front of the Hat)" and "Der Tod Attinghausen (The Death of Attinghausen)" - 1923, lithographs in colors on J. W. Zanders paper, edition of 200 published by Karl Nierendorf, Berlin, pencil signed lower right margin, publisher's blind stamp lower right corner. A set of two chromolithographs from the set of 13 for the 1925 printing of Schiller's "Wilhelm Tell", each composed in Corinth's typical sketch-like style in many colors depicting figural scenes from the famous story. Verso of each with handwritten Italian language label stating catalog details of the piece. Accompanied with copies of pages from the catalogue raisonne and auction catalog from which these were purchased. Each framed approximately 20.75" x 17". Sheet size approximately 15.375" x 11.5". Provenance: From the Private Collection of Benno & Babette Rothschild, Columbus, Georgia. Note: The complete series of 13 prints is included in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art, New York. Note: Total edition of 200 including 25, signed, on Japan paper; 75, signed, on Bütten paper, and 100, signed, on copperplate printing paper (this lot).
