Continental (possibly German), circa 1920s. A silver mirrored plateau of ovular form raised on four scrolling feet with leaf tip decoration, the plat decorated to sides with four sections of intricate scrollwork flanking shell forms that lay over the top surface of the plateau, the two shells to the long sides of the piece with open monogram cartouches at center surrounded by c scrolls, the mirror bordered by a beaded band, the underside with fitted mahogany or satinwood plank. Three indistinguishable marks to one side near foot, one possibly reading "233" or "283". Metal acid tested as just under .800 quality. Height approximately 2.25", width 19.9", depth 11.6".
