"Cornwall Olim Pars Danmoniorum"- 1637 from William Camden's "Britannia", hand colored copperplate cartographical engraving by William Kip (English/Flemish, fl.1598-1610) based on the 16th century map by Christopher Saxton (English, 1540-1610). 3rd edition map depicting the seaside province decorated with the Royal Arms, a sea-monster, a galleon, a scale, and a compass rose, with a strapwork title cartouche upper right and an inset upper left of the town of Launceston. Framed approximately 17.625" x 20.875". Sight size approximately 11.75" x 15.25". Provenance: acquired by the Estate of Dr. Woody Cobbs and Mrs. Honor Cobbs, Atlanta, Georgia.
