American, probably Boston, first half 19th century. A rosewood carved tilt top tripod candle stand or table, in the manner of S. Beal (Boston cabinetmaker or retailer), having a shaped turtle top on a baluster turned standard issuing three C scrolled legs. Approximate height 27.75" (raised), height tilted 39.6", width 21", depth 14.75". Property from the Estate of Dr. Woody Cobbs & Mrs. Honor Cobbs, Atlanta, Georgia. Purchased from Antiques and Art, Inc, Straub's Grove, Woody and Nancy Straub, PO Box 69, Umatilla, FL, 32784 in 1970.
