American School, 20th century. "Lovers", carved soapstone, apparently unsigned. Possibly Inuit, a modernist carved green soapstone figural sculpture depicting an embracing male and female nude couple with their arms wrapped around each other and the woman standing tiptoed on the man's feet, to an integral cut stone base heavy with white inclusions and abrasions. Overall approximate height 15.5", width 5", depth 3.5".
