Rotating Carousel Sculpture, Arte Felguerez

Luis Felguerez L (Mexican, b. 1960). A rotating merry-go-round sculpture entitled "Carrousel" comprising iron plate covered with hand-colored paper mache from the workshop of Arte Felguerez, Mexico City, based on designs created in 1964 by Manuel Felguerez (Mexican, b.1928). Carousel is decorated with blue flag over a red and yellow tent shaped roof with scalloped blue border, the merry-go-round features four children seated on carousel horses, the two girls with curly hair holding a lollypop seated side-saddle with crossed legs, the two boys riding on each horse with hand on pole looking outwards, the children painted in primary colors of blue, red and yellow. Marked to the underside of rotating base 'Arte Felguerez. Tag also states 'You have just acquired a fine piece of art designed by sculptor and painter FELGUEREZ, one of Mexico's leading artist. This is a multiple sculpture'. Approximate height 25.25", diameter 12".
