Chinese, Ming Dynasty Xuande Period mark (1426-1435), likely late 19th/ early 20th century. An eight lobed lotus form porcelain jardiniere or cache pot with cobalt blue underglaze hand painted decoration on gray/white ground, each of the eight petal form lobes with a depiction of one of the eight Buddhist auspicious signs, also known as the Ashtamangala, including the jeweled parasol, pair of golden fish, conch shell, treasure vase, lotus flower, infinite knot, victory banner, and wheel of the law, growing upward from a chrysanthemum blossom, the body's petals united to foot of vase and shoulder with lappet bands, the short straight conforming neck with a band of flowers on meandering vine. Marked to the lobe bearing Wheel of the Law above the painted symbol with six character underglaze mark for the Xuande period. Approximate height 11.25", diameter 13.5".
