Russian, likely late 19th century. Faberge style silver and cloisonné enamel paperknife (also called letter opener, flat knife, paper knife). Knife with elongated ovoidal form, with silver blade showing Georgian engraving, handle with cobalt blue, emerald green, mint, white and black cloisonné enamel with floral pattern and s scroll crest. Stamped on blade 84 indicating silver, and the mark of St. George indicating Moscow; with maker’s mark MK likely indicating Mikhail Mikhailovich Karpinskiì. Approximate length 10.125”, approximate width of handle at widest point 1.06”. Note: alternate spellings of maker’s name include Mikhail Mikhailovich Karpinsky, Mikhail Mikhailovich Karpinski.
