Continental, probably Italian, 19th century. A fine matched pair of Sansovino style gesso, silver and parcel gilt wood carved twin bedsteads, each with broken arched pediment centered with winged putti or angel caryatid over a button-tufted upholstered headboard flanked at the ears with floral carved urns, the waist with carved beast guardians in dog form on C scroll supports, the rails, head and foot boards decorated with Cassetta style hand-tooled designs on a punched ground, the foot board having elaborately carved scrolling acanthus at each end, centered with a lion mask and terminating on four leafy scrolled toes. Approximate height 47.8", width 42.8", depth 40". Approximate interior width 76", depth 36".
